Can My Pet Eat That?

Most pet owners are aware of common human foods that are toxic to pets, like chocolate, grapes, and onions. But what about other foods found in your home? Can you feed your cat carrots? Is it okay to give your dog cheese?

The chart below outlines the more common foods you’ll find in your kitchen. And while the list might indicate whether it’s okay for your dog or cat to eat a particular human food (always in moderation!), every pet has different dietary needs and potential food allergies. Common food allergens for dogs include beef, chicken, dairy, eggs, fish, and wheat. For cats, this includes beef, corn, dairy, fish, soy, and wheat.

Always check with a veterinarian first before feeding your pet any human food. When it doubt, leave it out!
